시크교 : 구루 나나크(펀자브어: ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ, 힌디어: गुरु नानक, 우르두어: گرونانک Gurū Nānak, 1469년 4월 15일 ~ 1539년 9월 22일)는 인도의 종교가이자 시크교의 창시자이다. 1469년 펀자브 지방 라호르 근교(현 파키스탄)에서 태어났다. 카스트 제도를 반대하였고 이슬람교의 영향을 받아 힌두교의 개혁을 시도한 시크교를 창시하였다. 시크교의 10명의 구루 중 첫 번째 구루이다. 신이 유일 영원한 존재이며 각종 종교에서는 각각 다르게 말하지만 신은 모두 동일한 것으로 계급과 종족의 차별없이 접근할 수 있다고 주장하였다. 또 죄를 지으면 그 후세에 응보를 받는다는 인과응보, 업과 윤회의 사상을 가르쳤다. 또 우상숭배와 고행을 반대하고 묵상으로 신을 섬길 것을 역설하였다. 시크교는 인도의 펀잡 지방에 널리 퍼졌다.[1] Wikipedia

세속적 인 휴일 : 설날인 음력 1월 1일과 구분하기 위하여 양력 1월 1일을 양력설이라고 한다. 양력설은 신정(新正)이라고도 하는데, 이것은 일본에서 와레키(和曆)를 양력으로 바꿀 때 음력설을 구정(正)이라고 부르면서 만든 말이다.[4] 대한민국에서는 1989년까지는 이날부터 1월 3일까지 연휴였으나, 1989년에 설날이 3일 연휴(설날 전날, 설날, 설날 다음날)가 되면서 1990년에 1월 3일이 공휴일에서 제외되었고, 1999년에 1월 2일이 공휴일에서 제외되어 현재는 1월 1일 하루만 공휴일이다. 대한민국에서는 설날처럼 일가친척이 모이지는 않더라도 가정에서는 보통 떡국을 먹으며, 일부 가정은 양력설을 쇠기도 한다. 세배가 아닌 다른 새해 인사는 양력설 즈음에 하는 것이 보편화되어 가는 추세이며, 보신각 타종과 전국 각지의 해돋이 행사 등 묵은 해를 보내고 새해를 맞이하는 새해 첫날의 의미는 양력설이 설날보다 매우 강하다. 세속적 인 휴일 : It was the Lahore Session of the Indian National Congress at midnight of December 31, 1929 - January 1, 1930, that the Tri-Colour Flag was unfurled by the nationalists and a pledge taken that every year on January 26, the Independence Day would be celebrated and that the people would unceasingly strive for the establishment of a Sovereign Democratic Republic of India. The professed pledge was successfully redeemed on January 26, 1950, when the Constitution of India framed by the Constituent Assembly of India came into force, although the Independence from the British rule was achieved on August 15, 1947. It is because of this that August 15 is celebrated as Independence Day, while January 26 as Republic Day.
